Did you know?
Work at Height Regulations took effect on 6th April 2005 and state that no work should be performed at height if there is a safe and practicable alternative.
Why does this matter?
Falls from height are one of the biggest causes of fatalities and major injuries in the workplace.
Breaches of the regulations can result in firms being prosecuted by HSE with substantial penalties.
What should I do?
Avoid work at height where reasonable.
If height work cannot be avoided, prevent the risk where possible by using an existing safe place.
Minimise the risk by using competent persons.
Ensure the correct safety systems and protective equipment are used.
Consider the weather and working conditions.
Have an emergency and rescue plan in place.
